Cherry Mobile P1

"Calculator-like" mobile is the usual term that people used for this cute, affordable and small mobile phone.

I bought mine last August 10, 2010 at Shangri-La Plaza Mall for 999php and has a 1-year warranty.

The package includes:
  • Unit
  • Chager - USB type
  • Battery - 120 hours STANDBY, 2 hours talk time
    • Rating capacity: 400 mAh
    • Standard voltage: 3.7 V

There are many colors to choose, but i picked the dark blue color.

I opened the back cover of it and it says: cherry mobile     MODEL: P1i

and there is also a IMEI number on it. I ask the saleslady about the difference of P1 and P1i and she said, P1i  is actually an upgraded version of P1 called Cherry Mobile P1i.

I don't really know what are those features/things that have been upgraded from the first version which is p1, but  P1i is open line, and I'm using a Globe sim on it. It has a 3-line LCD with only 1 light for the screen (it's fine though) and the menus are:
  • Short Message
  • Phonebook
  • Call Records
  • Settings
  • Alarm
  • Extra
  • and the Simcard Menu

So let's go further on each menu.
  1. Short Message
    1. Read message
    2. Write message
    3. Outbox
    4. Draftbox
    5. Voice mail
    6. Message setup
    7. Broadcast message
    8. Delete all
  2. Phonebook
    1. Create
    2. SIM phonebook
    3. Storage status
    4. Delete all entries
  3. Call records
    1. Incoming call
    2. Outgoing call
    3. Missed call
    4. Call duration
  4. Settings
    1. Phone settings
    2. Network settings
    3. Call settings
    4. Profiles
  5. Alarm
    1. (3 sets of alarm here)
  6. Extra
    1. Calculator
  7. Sim menu (mine is Globe menu)

When I bought this, the battery has a charge already (not that full of course).
I bought my P1 on August 10 @ around 9pm, and the battery charge last 'til August 11 @ around 7pm, so that is around 22 hours. All I did that time was to check the features of the phone and I didn't make any sms 'coz I'm using my primary phone which is a 6120classic.

Last night August 11 @ around 10pm, I went home and finally had the chance to charge my phone.. My P1 is switch off that time when I charged it 'coz the battery charge was totally drained. At around 10:45pm, I noticed that the screen is flashing "battery full!". So the drained battery was fully charged for more or less 45minutes.

Few things to know about your P1:
  • Long press * to make the keypad locked
  • Press *### to know its version,etc.
  • And it has a face protector (not that obvious)
    • I only knew about it when my mom borrowed my P1, and after a few minutes I noticed that she was already removing a transparent plastic on the face of my P1 and I was like "OMG!! ma, what did you do?!!!". And she said "I was just removing the cover of your new phone." LOL!

As of now, August 12, 2010. As I am making this blog/review about Cherry Mobile P1, I tried its sms feature(just now.. LOL! stupid!) and I send a message to my primary phone and OLAH! it's fine... "message sent successfully" and I received the message on my primary phone.

I am still observing how long the battery life will last. ^^,
